Multilanguage Support and its Challenges

Okay, so it’s 2025 now. Chatbots are better than Google Translate was ten years ago. But do they really understand the essence of most messages if you don’t prompt them precisely? Probably... not.

I tried out different models to at least make them usable for basic purposes—especially for anyone interested in checking out this pay2win-free browser game.

If you don’t already know: I, the developer, speak only German and English fluently. I know bits and pieces of Spanish, Japanese, and Vietnamese, but not enough to provide fluent translations.

Web development—and especially PHP—has come a long way since I started doing this full-time. With faster code and response times, it's now more feasible to run a single server for the EU without introducing too much delay. I asked a few friends, and they reported 120ms from Finland and 260–300ms from Thailand and Vietnam. Is this ideal? Of course not—but it’s no longer unresponsive or unplayable.
